About the Ledge Group
The Ledge Group LLC was formed to continue in the traditions of Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey, and many others to bridge the social, economic. and physical divide between Africans all over the world. Africans in the diaspora sit in strong economies with capital and no resources. Continental Africans maintain resources, but no capital. This produces a lose/lose economic situation for both groups. African resources are taken, refined, and sold to us in the diaspora. The fortunes earned on both sides don’t benefit either of us. The Ledge Group bridges this gap. We produce projects, models, and partnerships to enrich both groups at once and change this dynamic forever. We do not have the audacity to think small!
Food
Food
aThe Ledge Group considers food security as a priority. Along with fertile soil, clean water, fresh air, and adequate sunshine, the ability to farm affordable and sufficient quality produce is of vital importance. Without it, people’s health eventually declines. The lack of control over food supply also leads to economic dependence on others. At the Ledge Group, we fund a variety of farming projects in Africa. We raise livestock with adequate feed, water, and space for animals to graze. Our produce and livestock is sold at local markets. Our farmers are also able to feed their families. The Ledge Group assists several local communities so that food security is no longer a stressful, unresolved problem.
Water
Water
Water is the “blood” of the earth. It is a necessity. Too many people take water for granted. Individually, we use water to irrigate our gardens; quench thirst; shower; bathe; wash clothes & dishes; in cooking; etc. Socially, water irrigates farmland; develops residential water systems; used in restaurants; sanitation systems; hospitals; mining; air conditioning, etc. In Kenya, the Ledge Group dug two wells that provide water for our farms during droughts. Without it, our land would be barren. Instead, our soil is fertile, fed with air, sun, and water. The Ledge Group understands that having adequate, clean water ultimately benefits our farmer’s health and economy.
Clothing
Clothing
The importance of clothing varies from culture to culture and season to season. Being dependent upon others for clothing, compromises our culture, morality, modesty, social & political ideology, and personal principles. We can incorporate any cultural ideals we prefer when we make our own clothing. In the Ledge Group, we grow plants that can be processed into clothing. The most important Ledge Group factor is the ability to determine and guide our economy. That includes making, wearing, and selling our own clothing. This will impact how much our economy is under our control
Shelter
Shelter
The largest expense in America is buying an existing home with a 30-year mortgage. The cost to build a home can be 5 times the cost of building a home in most African countries. Would you like to pay off a home in less than 5 years? The Ledge Group’s goal is building homes on our land using our own resources and materials. We have a brick maker to minimize costs. Growing hemp can be used to build homes. We sell produce and livestock and use the profits to pay for expenses. In the Ledge Group, building our homes is intelligent and cost effective. Sustainability, independence, and living without debt is our foundation.
